Peanut Butter Bars
November 4, 2017
I love these peanut butter bars so much! They are so soft and yummy. I crave these bars often, as does the rest of my family. These bars are really fast and easy to make. I will show you some pictures with some instructions. I use Skippy (smooth) brand peanut butter for these and Nestle milk chocolate chips. First of all you’ll want to use a rubber spatula for these. When you spread out the batter in the pan push it down with a rubber spatula. If you use something metal the batter sticks to the metal object and does not spread well.
Once the bars have cooked you will wait two minutes and then put small scoops of peanut butter over the bars.
You will wait two more minutes and then spread the peanut butter over the bars with a clean spatula. Then you will wail two more minutes and spread chocolate chips over the bars.
You will wait two more minutes and then spread the chocolate chips with the same spatula you used for the peanut butter. The peanut butter and chocolate will mix together and will only look like chocolate on the top. I try to cover the peanut butter on the top, so you only see chocolate.
Peanut Butter Bars
1 cup butter, softened to room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup peanut butter + additional peanut butter scoops for the top of the baked bars
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups quick oats
1 package milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter, white sugar, and brown sugar.
Then mix in peanut butter, eggs, and vanilla. Once combined add flour, salt, soda, and oatmeal.
Pour and press into a large cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes.
Allow bars to cool for two minutes. They will need to be hot to melt the peanut butter and chocolate chips, but if they are too hot the bars will tear. Place small scoops of peanut butter all over the bars and let them sit for two minutes. After two minutes, spread the peanut butter all over the bars. Spread a package of chocolate chips all over the bars and let sit for two minutes. Once the time is up, spread the chocolate chips all over the bars. Let cook before serving.
